Ascension

IMG_0882

I know it to be true. There is a way to break this spell, cast by thousands of lives. I am paying for the sins of my fathers and mothers. The blood in my hands, dripping in lines. Spiralling in any direction, never pointing the way. Always a battle, the way of the world. I am moving forwards, I can feel it in my steps that hinder so. I can hear the beat of my heart, it is asking me to calm my mind. The noise too broken to comprehend. I feel the music silence me to the stillness of breath, and yet somewhere down below the cold night beckons me to doubt my instinct. The gut, my eternal Sun. I taste the brightness drawing closer to my spirit. It is lighting me to change. I am to become something entirely new. Teardrops pray up to the sky for answer. Confession, in no other color but violet. Rising up is the only way.

Morning Frida

The child me had the bushiest Frida eyebrows you’ve ever seen…how I hated myself. Each time I looked into the mirror I would refuse to believe that the image staring back at me was actually me. The kids would pick on me at school…I was this funny looking kid from this remote Mediterranean island nobody knew about. I spoke the same language…but my American accent couldn’t fool kids into believing I was like them. So one day after school, I picked up my mom’s shaving razor and headed to the mirror. Within minutes I was transformed…Frida eyebrow no more…I went downstairs to tell my mom the good news. I will never forget the look on her face. In that minute her eyes had absorbed the whole world’s sadness. Was I free? Never free, if not me. Today, I look back at the baby me and smile. I actually had a Frida eyebrow. How freaking cool is that?? But hey…I wish I was as brave as Frida Kahlo to stick with the look. But guess this story…my story is a different one.

Sex Expressed Like This…

asset356

In this time and age where values have been cheapened, gifts of literature, music and art tampered with by the effects of “pop” culture, we have each lost a little bit of our soul.

You might ask what is to blame?

Sex. As simple as a three-lettered word. Our relationship to our sexuality is one of the many things that has thrown us off balance. The way media/ famous celebrities/ subliminal messages in movies and music project sexuality undermines the truth to what sexuality is. What is presented to us can even be termed as “pseudo-sexuality” which pollutes and contaminates the mass through the projection of false meaning.

The expression of sexuality is more than what is shown on the surface. It is not the idolisation of the body, or the use of it for popularity, control or manipulation. There is far more depth to how it can be expressed. The fact is, we have lost touch with ourselves and this has resulted in the disconnection with the true source of our sexual power.

What is sex then?

Sex is creation. It is easy to take your clothes off and get it over and done with for momentary pleasure, but is far different to fully embody it, to allow it to become you, transform you.
Sexual expression is not only an act between the sheets but a way of living. When activated it can become a bridge of the divine to the material, spirit to matter. The problem is we are afraid of our own power. This results in holding back, not giving our fullest potential in all areas of our life: work/ relationships with our loved ones and own selves/ the creative endeavours we pursue. The reason we shy away from our own power is because we have been given a false identification of what sexuality is and how we can get in touch with it.

The poison of the past

Thousands of years, centuries of programming by organised orders of religion have made sexual expression seem wrong. The act itself was viewed as a sin, and only a means of procreation. The original sin of Adam and Eve, supposedly condemned us all, confining us to the hellish reality of pain, suffering and death. In addition to this women were raped, killed, stoned under the false accusation of being prostitutes, all subconsciously triggered by the idea of original sin. Men and women were separated in the battle of gender, role playing in a twisted fate of oppressor and victim. This breeding of religion, led to the Victorian age where sexuality was suppressed altogether, propriety and conservatism paving way to a society which hushed a basic need of nature. All this and so much more…Led to the present day. We have soaked this line of history, it is a part of our DNA, in our blood and genetics. This fear, oppression, suppression, victimisation, conditioning has scarred us with wounds very challenging to heal.

How can I awaken my true sexual nature?

In the Dharma religions, the awakening of the “kundalini” is what can help one come into touch with their sexual truth. This is the meditative state of raising energetic vibration from the spinal chakras to the upper chakras in the body, through the combination of breath, chanting and movement. Practices such as kundalini yoga can assist in the unlocking of this hidden power within us all. This is how one attains spiritual enlightenment.
In more physical terms, one can “lighten” themselves allowing them to tap into the flow of creative energy by pursuing things that they love and that are close to their heart. Performing arts, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, creativity in any shape or form is highly recommended as it allows one to centre themselves in the moment and freely open up to self-expression. The key is to let go and surrender to the flow of the moment instead of trying to control it or overthink it.

What does all this have to do with sex again?

One’s relationship with their sexuality is the core of their power. As one lightens their load of burdens, imposed on him/her by society or self-created restrictions, this gives them the freedom to surrender in their more intimate relationships. The union of lovers is to be a “performing act” in itself, an exchange of beauty and full expression. The innocence and purity of play and joy, allows the act itself to become sacred as it links one with the heart. In truth, the more one is confident with oneself, the more the exchange of sexual union will bring higher levels of intimacy between a couple.

sexuality is the soulful expression of play and freedom…

It is the interaction with one’s most boundless, limitless nature. The more liberation, the higher one can transform into a whole person. A healthy practice of sexuality is highly beneficial as it stimulates the mind and emotions, bringing nourishment to both body and spirit.
Needless to say, the misuse of sexuality through perverse, ill abuses causes severe damage to one’s mental, emotional, physical and spiritual state.

Keep healthy and powerful!

A very good example of an artist who was highly connected to his sexual power was Elvis Presley. This man was a legend, as he projected this divine sexual expression through his music, dance and personality, influencing crowds of people through his work, even to this day. This is the perfect example of a healthy, balanced sexual power expressed in a positive way.

Each one of us, in our own way can achieve this divine union ourselves through the healing of the cobwebs of the past and the full emancipation of the hidden depths of the self.

City Dreams

asset(30).png

She woke up to the noise of the city
Bothered by the trouble inside her.
Like a traffic jam on a Monday morning
Her heart spilled with emotion.
Candlelight flickered on her bedside
It’s romantic haze drawing near to a close.
Show must go on.
Creativity sparked her senses awake
As if that was the only thing keeping her going in this world.
Midnight shackles locked her in dreams of facades and illusions.
Morning light she was alive
To be the person she was born to be.
